Lyrikal's Album Release Party 

On July 21st, the soca community turned out to support Brooklyn's own legend-in-the-making, Lyrikal at his debut album release party.  Carribbean heavyweights Majah Hype and Machel Montano, as well as Brooklyn's own One Voice, Rayzor of the Request Band, Dawg E. Slaughter, turned the low key Suite 36 in midtown Manhattan into the place to be on Thursday  night. 

Mixing Shorblu's weekly after work party with the album launch caused the boutique bar and lounge to become so packed that moving from one side to the other became problematic, as did getting a drink from one of the only three bartenders on duty. 

Showtime, though late for a Thursday night, did not disappoint. Starting with a heartfelt speech from Tony X, to a live performance by the man of the hour, and ending with Machel Montano recognizing the Brooklyn soca scene for establishing him as a soca icon and now showing that same love to Lyrikal.

Lyrikal was visibly moved by the turnout. He paused to take pictures, sign CDs, and chat with fans. I'm sure we are only seeing the start of an amazing career and loyal fans will be there to support.

The Journey features recent hits "Loner" and "Freedom," but also goes back to his earlier hits "All Over De Gyal" and "Ramajay," which was written for the Brooklyn mas camp. The album available now in the App Store,  Google Play, and has already reached #3 in Amazon's International category.
